The American Heart Association

Over the past 10 years, the American Heart Association (AHA) and Laerdal have collaborated on a number of projects designed to help save lives through the global implementation of medical science and evidence-based educational products in Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). These include the development of HeartCode electronic learning programs, distribution of educational materials in a number of countries and, most recently, the development of self-directed learning CPR programs (CPR Anytime).
As a result of such activities, in July 2005 the AHA and Laerdal announced the establishment of the first ever strategic alliance between the AHA and a commercial organization, Laerdal. www.americanheart.org

The American Red Cross

In 1997, the American Red Cross announced a collaborative program with Laerdal Medical Corporation called Helping Save Lives… Together. Through this program, Laerdal helped the ARC expand its Health and Safety Services by providing a comprehensive product line that complemented their training programs. Both organizations strive to find innovative services, programs and quality products that will better serve customer needs, and both are dedicated to responsive customer support. Healthstream

In 2005, Laerdal entered into a partnership with HealthStream, a leading provider of learning solutions to the healthcare industry. This further enhanced our offering in CPR and ECC required for healthcare personnel in acute-care hospitals. The partnership offers hospitals a new solution for the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training. This training uses a blended learning approach of both online, simulation-based content and a hands-on skills evaluation by an instructor and/or a manikin simulator. The addition of the HealthStream learning platform will now offer customers the ability to assign and track course completion data in an efficient manner, streamlining their management and reporting responsibilities. www.healthstream.com

Philips

Laerdal’s relationship with Philips Medical Systems started in 1996, at that time, Hewlett-Packard. Our focus has always been, and remains to be on providing improved solutions for response to victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Over these 10 plus years, our Worldwide Alliance has focused in areas of research and development, marketing and distribution. Today, we are proud to offer a new CPR measurement and feedback technology, Q-CPR to help emergency personnel provide the best possible CPR quality to victims of SCA. Our collaboration with Philips is an important step towards expanding the knowledge and resources behind delivering correct and effective CPR. National League for Nursing

In 2003, The National League for Nursing (NLN) announced a new relationship with Laerdal to support vitally important nursing education research. Laerdal supported the NLN with a three-year grant to support a national, multi-site, multi-method project to develop and test models using simulation to promote student learning in nursing. Through this initiative, eight NLN member schools were selected as project sites to develop innovative uses of simulation in teaching nursing care of adults and children. Participating schools documented student outcomes of learning, specifically, the extent to which different simulation models affect students' critical thinking skills, level of self-confidence/anxiety, and knowledge. The result of this research is being disseminated in November of 2006 with a textbook of findings due to be developed by the new year. This relationship has now led to a more broad based alliance to help with the development of nurse educator faculty in simulation education methodology. The National League for Nursing is the only national organization that represents the nursing workforce at all levels of education and practice. www.nln.org
