Immobilization
Located between the links of early Defibrillation and Advanced Life Support, Immobilization is all about prevention – preventing further injury to the trauma patient while on scene or en route to a facility.
Ever since the introduction of the Single-Piece Rigid Extrication Collar in 1981, we’ve helped train countless Providers who’ve learned to trust Laerdal's immobilization solutions. Solutions like the BaXstrap – our contoured spineboard designed for patient comfort, the Stifneck Select – our standard sizing method adjustable collar, and the new Stifneck Pedi-Select adjustable pediatric collar.
Laerdal is dedicated to supplying total training and therapy solutions, so we introduced "Issues In Spinal Care" to create the awareness of why proper immobilization is crucial to patient care and to help prepare the provider to recognize when immobilization is needed.
The 2005 edition of "Issues in Spinal Care" is now available. This training curriculum provides some of the latest concepts and techniques in spinal motion restriction in four independent modules: adult, pediatric, aquatics, and spinal field rule out. Most of the updates are in the aquatics section.
