A 'Nation of Lifesavers' could save 5,000 lives a year

  • More than 22,000 people die every year following a cardiac arrest in their home.
  • 80 percent of the UK’s 30,000 annual out of hospital cardiac arrests occur in the home.
  • Fewer than one in ten (8.6%) people survive.

Cardiac arrest often occurs in the home in front of families and loved ones. The survival rates are low and this is partly due to people not having the skills or confidence to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

If all young people and adults learn lifesaving CPR skills it could build a 'Nation of Lifesavers'.
