Sustainable Sourcing Policy
Sustainable Sourcing in Laerdal Medical
Sustainable sourcing is core in all Laerdal global operations. We integrate sustainable sourcing principles through our commitment to the 10 UN Global Compact Principles, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), and OECD standards. We expect our suppliers to uphold these same international standards.
1. Code of conduct for business relationships
To ensure compliance with our sustainability standards we expect all suppliers to meet the requirements of our Code of Conduct for Business Relationships (laerdal-medical-code-of-conduct-business-relationships.pdf). Key elements in this code are:
- Partners are expected to commit to an ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible conduct.
- Partners are expected to comply with relevant laws and regulations, respect fundamental human rights, provide decent working conditions, ensure the health and safety of the employees and protect the environment.
2. Supplier CSR Assessments
Laerdal Medical has chosen the Ecovadis platform as a key tool in our supplier Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) evaluations. EcoVadis is an independent evaluation company which evaluates suppliers against criteria such as environment, carbon management, human rights and fair business practices. We strongly encourage our suppliers to join EcoVadis to obtain independent sustainability assessments in the areas of carbon management, environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
3. Supplier audits
Physical and digital external audits are carried out in accordance with applied risk assessments. Environmental sustainability and social responsibility are integral parts of these audits.
4. CO2 emission data collection
To ensure accurate CO2 emission calculations, we actively collect primary data from our suppliers. We engage with them regularly and request updated CO2 emission data as it becomes available.
5. Sustainability Certification
ISCC PLUS is a voluntary certification that ensures the use of alternative feedstocks with lower CO2 emissions.
The certification scheme is designed to validate the sustainability characteristics of alternative feedstocks. It is used to certify biomass, waste, renewables, and recycled materials for various sectors, including food, feed, chemicals, plastics and textiles. The certification ensures compliance with sustainability criteria such as greenhouse gas emissions, social sustainability, and land use. T
Laerdal has decided to certify our global production facilities, starting with the Norwegian facility in 2025.
6. Conflict Minerals
In our conflict minerals policy statement (Conflict Minerals Policy Statement | Laerdal Medical) we stress the importance of traceability in the value chain of conflict minerals and we issue related reports to requesting parties.
