Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support is the last step in the Chain of Survival and the beginning of patient recovery. ALS stabilizes the patient while therapy continues to be provided. Providers assess and treat the underlying causes of the patient’s condition so as to prevent regression.
In addition to the advanced skills, ALS includes the one most essential skill a Provider can ever learn – Critical Thinking – to better assess the problem and make the life and death decisions of what to do, what not to do… and when!
Laerdal supports the ALS link with product solutions that include task trainers to help teach individual skills like rhythm recognition and IV therapy, patient simulators that can present a full-blown cardiac arrest, and training in Critical Thinking.
