Building High-Performance Resuscitation Teams

Resuscitation Workshops: Training for Better Outcomes

The Resuscitation Workshops are designed to help organisations, departments and agencies improve team performance in resuscitation and help increase survival rates from OHCA and IHCA. The workshops accomplish this through simulation with a focus on refining leadership's follow-through on measurement debriefing and deliberate practice in CPR.

Workshop attendees will learn how to:

  • Use science-based metric measurements (rate, depth, recoil, ventilation, and CCF), assessment, and feedback to improve CPR skills and maintain competency
  • Plan for team roles, responsibilities and processes using simulation
  • Practice for leadership skills along with common team language and standardised practices
  • Simulate the change in environment to develop situational awareness
  • Foster assertive patient safety-centric communication
  • Change teams or environment to promote adaptive behavior

We are pleased to offer these workshops for free!

A commitment to High-Performance CPR Leads to Higher Survival Rates

In 2017, Davie Fire made the commitment of implementing a High-Performance CPR model for cardiac arrest management. The painful realization that our firefighter/paramedics were simply, not good at CPR, was an eye-opening experience. The personnel (175 people) learned how proper compression depth, recoil, rate, pauses, ventilation rate and volume all led to higher scores, which translates to more survivors from cardiac arrest.

"We believe that our agency can be used as a best practices model of how to implement the life-saving program and how our partnership with Laerdal has been used to more than triple our survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests."

Julie Downey, Fire Chief - Davie Fire Rescue Department
