SimCapture

Moving from On-Premise to Cloud

Your Pathway to the Cloud

Making the switch from your existing SimCapture on-premise infrastructure to the cloud offers many benefits, including reduced complexity, flexible scalability, and improved security. But most importantly, it will help you better support both your learners and simulation program.

SimCapture allows you to effectively manage, record, and assess simulation training on-site, in-situ, and remotely using a single web-based interface hosted in the cloud. Valuable data is collated into reports and statistics on performance and trends to track usage and learning outcomes.

Why Move to the Cloud?

Reliable and Secure Platform

SimCapture Cloud resides on Amazon Web Service (AWS). This infrastructure allows us to provide continuous enhancements to SimCapture with no downtime and better integration with LLEAP, SimPad, and 3rd party suppliers.

Flexible Student-Focused Learning

Whether you're 100% based in a simulation center or need remote learning capabilities, SimCapture is adaptable to support your learners' needs with secure access from anywhere.

Enhanced Collaboration

With the multi-tenant database architecture, more functionality is available for collaboration. Connect networks between organizations and multiple campuses. This increases efficiency and standardization.

Easier Implementation and Rapid Support

Reduce tedious day-to-day tasks, allowing your team to focus on more impactful work. Support based on your feedback means bi-weekly releases, bug fixes, and improvements. Each is rapidly deployed without any operational disruption.

Improved Program Management

As your center expands, your data capacity needs can be addressed simply and rapidly. Save time and resources with easy-to-use scheduling functionality, automation of evaluations, and the ability to leverage peer reviews instead of relying on administrators manually managing data.

FAQs

What does it mean to convert from on-premise to cloud?

Your SimCapture on-premise system uses on-site servers to store data. Moving to the cloud will eliminate the need for servers, as your data would reside on Amazon Web Service (AWS), a reliable, secure, multi-tenant platform.

Converting to a SimCapture Cloud system means moving to a new product, with new capabilities.  There are some changes to existing features and workflows but it includes much of the same functionality you enjoy today - PLUS several new features only available on the cloud.

How do I know if converting makes sense for my organization?

Deciding if SimCapture Cloud is right for you is a process we want to partner with you on. Our Impact Managers are here to help guide you through the process, help you to understand what changes you can expect, and help to demonstrate how your current workflows will function in the cloud platform.

Some general principles that make cloud a great option are its accessibility anywhere, lesser dependency on your internal IT resources, and remote workflow capabilities.

Are there any challenges to consider when moving to the cloud?

Moving to SimCapture Cloud does mean starting anew with your data set, as it is a new product and not a continuation of your on-premise platform. Some organizations are challenged with the new system not including historical data. Managing access to the on-premise data set and determining when that access is no longer needed requires some discussion and planning.

What support do you offer to help my organization transition?

SimCapture Cloud does function differently than our on-premise platform and will require education to learn the system fully. Our SimCapture education team will provide customized training to help you make the transition. In addition, your dedicated Impact Managers will guide you to ensure that you are able to set up your system and curriculum for success.

Will the conversion process interrupt our simulation center?

We understand that there is limited downtime in busy simulation centers.  We handle the implementation in an efficient manner to accommodate your timelines.

How does our organization prepare to move to the cloud?

There are many reasons why organizations migrate to the cloud, and each organization is unique depending on resources and use models.  Here are some general best practices to streamline the process:

  • Get organizational buy-in from stakeholders, including simulation leadership and IT.
  • Work closely with your SimCapture Impact Manager to assess your program needs and long-term goals.
  • Discuss your plan for managing access to your on-premise system for historical data and determine how long that access is required.
  • Include your educators and IT in relevant discussions. The most important thing is that your simulation and standardized patient (SP) educators can continue to operate within their needed processes, measure, and report on the necessary data points, and deliver a consistent experience to students.
