HeartCode Blended Learning

Streamlining Resuscitation Training

Organizations today are faced with many challenges for training and managing learners with diverse backgrounds and learning needs. Incorporating eLearning into your resuscitation training offers consistency in educational content and higher convenience in training delivery.

Deeply rooted in the latest science, the HeartCode blended learning programs from the American Heart Association (AHA) and Laerdal Medical offer an online delivery method for cognitive learning that meets the needs of today's learners.

The Learner Journey

The AHA’s blended learning courses are made up of an eLearning component and skills training. To receive an AHA Course Completion eCard, learners complete the eLearning portion at their convenience followed by Instructor-led skills practice and testing at an AHA Training Center.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Training

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED.

The course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Training

The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, early and continuous high-quality CPR, and high-performing teams.

The course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response.

RQI: Resuscitation Quality Improvement
The RQI programs prevents skills decay with verified competence through low-dose, high-frequency training. The quarterly RQI curriculum delivers cognitive eLearning and self-directed skills training to achieve mastery learning of high-quality resuscitation skills.

"When we started the RQI program only 25% of our staff were able to perform chest compressions and ventilations at the required rate. Now we have more than 90% of staff exceeding the standard."
Matt Johnson, Cabrini Health, Australia
