Live Webinar: Getting Started with Simulation Escape Rooms

Friday, February 21, 2020 | 1:00 PM EST | Duration: 1 Hour

Simulation escape rooms have become increasingly popular in educational settings. In healthcare training environments, the learning method amplifies the benefits of using simulation to teach critical thinking, teamwork, and clinical skills.

Join Janine Valko, Jim Behme, and Brian Wallenburg for a panel discussion about their experience designing and facilitating simulation escape rooms at their respective organizations. They will share:

  • How they got started using simulation escape rooms as a teaching method
  • The results they have seen among their learners
  • How to incorporate high-fidelity simulators in an escape room
  • Tips for success

Jim Behme

Simulation Center Coordinator | University of Connecticut (Uconn) School of Medicine and Uconn Health

Jim has been involved in simulation for 12 years and has grown his current program from a small shared 350 sq ft location to its current 6000 sq ft center with an accompanying growth in usage.

Following a SUN conference in April of 2019, which featured an Escape Room session, he has developed and run multiple Escape Rooms and is in the process of designing several more. He is currently a co-author for a presentation that is being considered for the 2020 ASPE Conference. He was also recently awarded the Dr. Peter J Deckers Employee Appreciation Award; UConn Health’s employee of the year.
