Conflict Minerals Policy Statement

Conflict Minerals Policy Statement

Laerdal Medical supports ending the violence and human rights violations in the mining of certain minerals from a location described as the “Conflict Region,” situated in the eastern portion of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and surrounding countries.

On 21 July 2010, the Dodd‐Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was signed into law in the US. The Dodd-Frank Act and related U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules require certain companies to disclose the extent to which the products they manufacture or contract to manufacture, contain so‐called conflict minerals sourced from mines in the DRC or adjoining countries.

Conflict minerals include tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold, which are used in many electronic components and computer products.

As a global producer of training and medical products, Laerdal Medical is committed to supply chain transparency and the ethical sourcing of materials. We strongly believe that our customers should have full visibility into the materials used in our products.

Our commitment to ethical sourcing

Laerdal Medical requires its suppliers to conduct due diligence to ensure that any specified metals are sourced either from:

  • Mines and smelters outside the Conflict Region, or
  • Mines and smelters within the Conflict Region that have been independently certified as "conflict-free."

We actively work with industry partners and initiatives, including the Electronics Components Industry Association (ECIA) and the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), to improve traceability and ethical sourcing in the supply chain.

Laerdal Medical remains dedicated to corporate social responsibility and sustainability, continuously working toward a conflict-free supply chain.

Call to action for suppliers

We encourage all of our suppliers to support these efforts by ensuring responsible sourcing within their own supply chains and making relevant information easily accessible on their websites.
