2019 AHA Feedback Requirements

Measure to Improve

Meet the 2019 AHA Feedback Requirement with Laerdal’s Resuscitation Training Solutions

Following the scientific evidence on feedback devices highlighted in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, effective January 31, 2019, the AHA now requires the use of an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin in all AHA courses that teach the skills of adult CPR. 1

Specifically, an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin is one that, at a minimum, provides audio or visual (or both) feedback on the rate and depth of compressions during CPR training. 2

Specific and targeted feedback is critical to students understanding and delivering high-quality CPR when faced with a cardiac emergency. Incorporating feedback devices into adult CPR courses improves the quality and consistency of CPR training, which increases the chance of a successful outcome when CPR is performed. 1

Read the official AHA directive

The AHA has established two standards for devices meeting the new requirements:

Minimum Standard
Instrumented, auditory and/or visual feedback on rate and depth of compression
Optimum Standard

Meets the minimum standard and also includes auditory and/or visual feedback on recoil and didactic(s) for proper hand placement 3

Laerdal’s portfolio of CPR training products includes feedback solutions to help you meet the requirement and deliver quality CPR training for your learners. We've created the badges above to help you identify which of our products meet which standard.
