Equal opportunities. Laerdal on diversity and inclusion
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
At Laerdal, diversity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) are deeply connected to our mission of helping save lives and our vision of equal, high-quality healthcare for all. We believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization - where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to contribute - enables us to make a greater impact together.
Why it matters
Diversity brings multiple perspectives that drive better decision-making, foster innovation, and strengthen our ability to serve diverse communities worldwide. Equity ensures fair treatment and opportunities for all. Inclusion creates an environment where differences are welcomed and valued. Belonging gives every individual the confidence that they are accepted, valued and connected within our organization.
How we work
- DEIB is embedded in our values, culture, leadership and behaviors.
- We strive for equal treatment and opportunities for all employees and maintain a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
- Our global presence spans multiple countries, reflecting ethnic and cultural diversity within our workforce.
- We actively follow up, measure and report on gender balance and other diversity metrics in our annual Sustainability Report.
- Our Code of Conduct and policies ensure that equal opportunities are embedded at every stage of employment, from recruitment to leadership development.
Our focus areas
- Gender Balance: We continuously monitor and strive for a gender-balanced workforce to broaden our talent pool and better reflect our customers’ needs.
- Learning and Accountability: We commit time and effort to continuous learning, including unconscious bias training and DEIB initiatives.
- Transparency: We hold ourselves accountable with visible commitments and measurable progress, recognizing achievements and addressing behaviors that do not align with our values.
Why it matters for our mission
Helping save lives is our mission. To do that well, we need a workplace where everyone feels valued and included. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging aren’t just ideals - they make us more creative, more collaborative, and better at delivering impact.
Our Definition of Gender: Aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO), we define gender as the socially constructed roles, behaviors, expressions, and identities of girls, women, boys, men, and gender-diverse people. Gender is distinct from biological sex and varies across cultures and over time. This definition reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace for all.
